Shane Radbone has won several awards including Young Leader of the Year Award in South Australia for his management skills. Here he shares valuable advice on how to start a business and make it successful:

  1. If you have a good idea, do something about it. Sitting around and talking around your idea won’t amount to anything. You must remember that everything takes effort. Ideas are meant to be planted and fruits are meant to be sown. So whatever it is that you have been thinking about, start making concrete steps towards achieving it. It doesn’t matter what these steps are but one thing is for sure, you have got to move!
  2. If you get the chance, under promise but over deliver. This is an excellent way to build customer satisfaction and loyalty. It makes the customer feel overwhelmed with your service especially since you did not make them expect too much. By the same token, make sure that you never under deliver. Always make your end product more than just satisfying, aim for doubly satisfying and your customer will love you for it.
  3. Planning is essential. Hesitation is not a good idea for business as moments are fleeting and so are opportunities but this does not mean that you must be hasty. What you need to do is to learn to think quickly yet have a system so that all your decisions go through a basis screening despite how much you are pressed for time.
  4. Listen to customer feedback and act on them. Your customer is the best gauge of the quality of your product and services. They will be downright honest and critical and that is what you need. If you are serious about growing your business, you will have to improve, innovate and deliver every single day. That is what it takes to make not only your customers to come back but for them to bring new customers along as well.

Remember, Shane Radbone Baskin Robbins CEO, also advocates the power of the mind. So with anything you want to do, set your mind to it and you are just as sure as achieving it.
